You're Not Broke — You're Just Untrained: The Rea…

글로벌 빌더|2026. 07. 26.

Here's a sentence worth sitting with: the only thing standing between you and financial freedom is that you don't yet have the skills you need for it. Not talent. Not connections. Not a lucky break. Skills — and skills, unlike talent, can be learned by absolutely anyone willing to put in the reps.

The Five Skills That Actually Matter

Strip away the jargon and almost every business, side hustle, or freelance career runs on the same five underlying skills:

  • Attract — getting strangers to notice you exist. Content, ads, outreach, networking.
  • Convert — turning that attention into paying customers.
  • Delight — giving customers a good enough experience that they come back and bring friends with them — the four Rs: reviews, referrals, renewals, and results.
  • Operate — the unglamorous day-to-day: registering the business, taxes, admin.
  • Scale — once revenue crosses roughly the six-figure mark, a new set of skills kicks in to grow beyond what one person can handle alone.

Nobody comes out of the womb knowing how to do any of these, in the same way nobody is born knowing how to drive a car or tie their shoelaces. Every one of them is a skill you pick up through repetition — and the people who end up financially free are simply the ones who went and picked them up.

Say Yes First, Figure It Out Second

There's a useful shortcut for building any of these skills fast, often credited to Theodore Roosevelt: whenever you're asked if you can do a job, say "Certainly I can" — then get busy and find out how. The trap most people fall into is the opposite: someone offers them money or an opportunity, and they turn it down because they don't yet have the exact skill required. The fix isn't to wait until you're qualified. It's to say yes, then spend the next few days or weeks becoming qualified.

You Don't Need a Degree — You Need a Weekend

Take something like running paid ads. Almost nobody who's good at this learned it in a classroom. They learned it by opening the ad platform, poking around, asking an AI tool or a couple of tutorials for help, setting a tiny budget, and adjusting from there. Within a weekend, most people have a working grasp of the skill. The same pattern shows up everywhere: professionals in highly technical fields — including surgeons learning operations and medical students drilling clinical exams — lean heavily on freely available tutorials to actually absorb the material, then refine it through practice. If people learn appendectomies this way, running an ad campaign or a cold outreach sequence is not the intimidating black box it feels like from the outside.

Replace "I Can't" With "Not Yet"

The single highest-leverage mindset shift here is swapping "I don't have the skill for X" for "I don't have the skill for X yet." That one word — yet — does enormous work. It turns a permanent-sounding limitation into a to-do list item. Business author Alex Hormozi puts it bluntly: you can train anyone to do anything. The only real variable is how long it takes — a weekend for ad management, fifteen years for neurosurgery, and most valuable business skills sitting much closer to the weekend end of that spectrum.

The Takeaway

If you're not yet financially free, it's rarely a mystery — it's a skill issue. Attracting, converting, delighting, operating, and eventually scaling are all teachable, learnable, googleable skills, and the tutorials for every one of them already exist for free. The people who get rich aren't smarter; they just stopped waiting to feel ready and started closing the gap between "can't" and "can, eventually."
